The genus Pandinus

Scorpions of the genus Pandinus are with about 20cm bodylength among the largest recent scorpions of the world. The genus is a typical element of the Ethiopian faunal region. Its distribution pattern reaches from the Senegal and Gambia in the West across the whole Westafrican coast and Central Africa until East Africa and is even found with 2 species in the Yemen (see distribution map).
